The Wedding Day
Having previously photographed the wedding of Rachael’s twin sister Charlotte and her husband James, I was really looking forward to catching up with everyone again for the wedding of Rachael and Tom. I knew by having the same bridesmaids too it would be pretty awesome, such lovely ladies who were so helpful and kind the first time I photographed them.
Nikkala from Faye Amare Photography was second shooting for me today and I was keen to introduce her to the wonderful family I had been so lucky enough to capture twice!
We were at Dodmoor House for today’s wedding, and wow what a beautiful little venue this was. The English country charm greeting you as soon as you arrive, I couldn’t wait to explore. The converted barn and beautiful flower filled courtyard made for such a romantic wedding venue, and I simply couldn’t wait to get started! At this point I have to mention the incredible flowers created by the bridal party themselves! Top job ladies, well done. Rachael most definitely has a creative side, having made rustic signs, floral arrangements and most of the wood and hessian décor it looked fantastic. Nikkala captured the groomsmen perfectly before guests were seated in the barn.
The ceremony was sweet, intimate and it felt as if Rachael and Tom were completely lost in each other. Confetti rained down as Mr and Mrs Gardner made their exit as man and wife, entering back into the courtyard for drinks and canapes. We had the bright blue sky for most of the day, but at times the heavens opened, and we had to keep pinching moments to capture the photographs we needed. But for the best part, it was a glorious day! Spending time with Rachael and Tom away from everyone else was special, we got to know them so much more as a couple and let them take some time for reflection to themselves. We were most definitely spoiled with the delightful gardens of Dodmoor House. Enticing us further and further into secret little corners and walkways, we could have stayed for hours!
Speeches and Food are always welcome. Playful words of the Father of the bride filling the barn with kind and caring advice for his daughter and new son in law. The hilarious speech from the best man, Toms brother who flew in from the other side of the world had everyone erupting in laughter as he told stories from their childhood.
Dodmoor House has a part of open ground the sun just loves to light up perfectly at dusk. We headed out to allow for a moment to capture some warmth of the sunset, my favourite time of the day! To our surprise it began to rain again, as we turned to head inside a beautiful rainbow appeared! How lucky were we!
As far as dancefloors go, this one was epic! Full of guests giving it their all. Shoes off, flip flops on, and inflatable guitar in hand…what else could you need?
